Amelia Walker

National Director of Strategy and Quality Improvement

Amelia is the National Director of Strategy and Quality Improvement and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of OAT’s ambitious and stretching strategy to 2023. She heads up a team of professionals managing curriculum design, enrichment, communications, fundraising and data. The team also oversees funded projects to develop innovation for OAT schools, including OAT’s £2 million #iwill project funded by Ormiston Trust and the National Lottery Community Fund.

Before joining OAT, Amelia worked in strategy and policy for over 15 years, most recently at Ofsted as the Deputy Director of Research and Evaluation. She is recognised for her contribution to national debate on education and care, having led on dozens of influential reports for two chief inspectors. Most notably, this included the current Chief Inspector’s research and comment on the curriculum, which was instrumental in the development of the new inspection framework.

Note: Amelia has been seconded to the Confederation of School Trusts (CST) for a six month period (starting in March 2020) to work on a curriculum project.
