Students and staff at Ormiston Denes Academy are celebrating this week, having organised a ‘Santa run’ to raise money for the East Anglian Children’s Hospices Charity (EACH).

Ormiston South Parade Academy, an academy sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), have received a Level 1 Rights Respecting Schools Award from Unicef for its commitment to embedding children’s rights in its ethos and curriculum. It becomes the first school in Grimsby to receive this recognition.

Students at Ormiston Forge Academy started early December by donating 170kg (376lbs) of items to the Quinton and Oldbury Foodbank. The food bank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.

Ormiston Venture Academy has raised a record number of donations for the Great Yarmouth Foodbank on Lowestoft Road and All Saints Church in Belton. Both food banks service the academy’s catchment area and every year the academy raises donations for them.

Pupils from four Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) academies are participating in a new enrichment programme pilot which will see award winning children’s magazine The Week Junior build news clubs, debate days and career experience workshops into their school timetable. The move is a plan to engage pupil’s curiosity and help them to make better sense of the world.
