Game Changers at the University of East Anglia

Enrichment case study (Academy)

At the start of the New Year a group of year 7 students from Ormiston Venture Academy, had the opportunity to attend an educational event at the University of East Anglia.

As part of a new initiative, the students took part in the Game Changers programme, designed to feed and raise aspirations in year 7 male students and enlighten them to Higher Education.

The group of boys were treated to a university student experience, with a lot of them attending UEA for the first time and blown over by the sheer size of the campus. They received an Economics taster session in a seminar setting, along with a question and answer workshop with staff and ambassadors from the university. Their strengths and agility were also tested on the university’s climbing wall and a sporting match of fencing.

Assistant Principal Mr McInally commented that,

“We are really pleased to support this programme again and the benefits of seeing a university in full flow will remain with the students for many years. I hope they know see they are more than capable of attending a university if they want to in their futures”.
