Innovative recycling

Enrichment case study (Academy)

Pupils at Ormiston South Parade Academy have been busy recycling crisp packets with a company called Terra-Cycle, as part of Goal 14 – Life Below Water, one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Inspired by David Attenborough’s Blue Planet 2 the steering group decided to reduce the amount of plastic waste created as a school. They set up special bins around the school to dispose of crisp packets and have presented an assembly to raise awareness, both at home and at school. The collected crisp packets were sent away and used to raise money for charity – a great way get families making a difference to the world.
