Fishing for Schools

Edward Worlledge Ormiston Academy

Eight pupils and staff from Edward Worlledge were invited to sample the delights of fishing in a day-long event provided by the Countryside Alliance Foundation.

Fishing for Schools introduced the young people to techniques used in fishing before the preparation, and eventual tasting, of the day's catch.

This was a free promotion for the schools and academies involved, and pupils from Edward Worlledge even made an appearance of the local news that evening.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed this experience and some have even taken up the hobby!

It is hoped courses will run annually and complement 'bush craft skills' development within the school.

Chloe, Year 6 pupil, said: "The fishing trip was really fun and even though I do not like holding fish, it was really educational."
