  26 September, 2023

We are pleased to announce, Cliff Park Ormiston Academy has been recognised by Ofsted for the effective steps it has taken to ensure students are being provided with a high-quality education.

Within the report, inspectors praised academy leaders for introducing swift and effective improvement measures, and for raising the standard of education being delivered. In particular, Ofsted noted that “the precision of the academy’s plans and the constant review and adaptations they are making, means they have secured a solid foundation to move forward from.”

During the inspection, which took place on the 18 July, Ofsted confirmed that academy remains at requires improvement, but identified a number of areas that have improved quickly since the previous inspection in October 2022 including:

  • The careful plans which leaders have put in place to ensure “students get a consistent experience in the classroom and teachers plan engaging lessons.”
  • Lessons are well-structured to ensure teaching staff “help to improve students understanding” enabling them to be successful in their learning.
  • Furthermore, inspectors noted how teaching methods are more effective and are supporting students to build knowledge over time.
  • Ofsted recognised how the academy has “completely reviewed how they support students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).” As a result, teachers have been well trained to support students in overcoming barriers and to engage well in their learning ensuring, that “students with SEND are now able to access the full curriculum alongside their peers.”
  • Inspectors praised the significant improvement that has been made to student behaviour, recognising how there are now strong behavioural expectations which are met and routines which are followed.
  • The changes to the curriculum enable pupils to learn about responsibility and looking out for each other as well as encouraging them to carefully consider others’ feelings and emotions. This is having a positive impact. They remarked that the school is calm and orderly.

With a positive year ahead, the academy is welcoming prospective students and families to get a feel for life at Cliff Park through a series of open day which are taking place between 5.30pm and 8.00pm on Thursday 5 October 2023.

Harry French, principal said: “I am pleased to see the tireless work of every member of our school community to drive improvement and ensure we are providing a high-quality education to all our students be recognised by Ofsted.
