CNS sixth form student Sahand

City of Norwich School (CNS) sixth form is celebrating the achievements of its students after what has been an unprecedented academic year, with students securing places at top universities.

The sixth form has welcomed excellent individual achievements, including:

  • Eliza, who achieved four A*s and is over the moon with her results which will enable her to now study History at the University of East Anglia.
  • Sahand’s 2 As and 2 Bs will now enable him to achieve his dream of studying dentistry at Dundee University. Sahand’s impressive results are testament to his hard work and determination. Sahand arrived in the UK with his family as a refugee from Iran and when he joined CNS in Year 7, he could not speak English. His learning was done through a translation app on a tablet until he was fluent enough in English to understand lessons unaided.
  • Thomas also achieved three A*s. Thomas will be going on to study Physics at Durham University and said “I am so pleased with my results and would particularly like to mention the Villiers Park Scholars Programme, which has really helped me in my achievements”.
  • Joanna achieved three A*s and will be taking a gap year before heading off to Nottingham University to study Economics.

Jo Philpott, Headteacher at City of Norwich School said:

“We are all immensely proud of the achievements of the CNS Class of 2020. It has been lovely to welcome students into school to collect their results and for them to be able to share their success with staff and each other. I would like to thank the teachers of CNS for all their hard work with Year 13 throughout their A’ levels. I wish all of our Year 13 students the very best in their future lives as they embark upon a wide range of exciting university courses and apprenticeships.”
