Ormiston Venture Academy’s latest production, “Fame,” has taken Great Yarmouth audiences on an unforgettable journey into the lives of young, hopeful performing arts students at the prestigious Fame school.

The academy has put on a triumphant performance of talent and dedication to recreate the iconic story, filled with music, dance, and drama, and encapsulating the essence of love, morals, determination, and humour.

Working with renowned music and choreography, the dedicated students from Year 7 to 11 rehearsed all hours to bring to life a vibrant tapestry of characters, both in chorus and main roles and poured their energy and passion into every rehearsal.

The final performance was a huge hit for the whole academy, who put on a show-stopping performance for friends and loved ones in the audience.

Reflecting on their experiences, Isla-Jade, who portrayed the main character Carmen Diaz, shared, “Fame was an amazing and also challenging experience. It has opened up my eyes to what my future will be like when I leave school to attend a performing arts college. I loved helping put together some of the choreography and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.”

Emiliya, who embodied the character of Mabel Washington, agreed saying, “Working on FAME has been exhilarating! Through the hysterical comedies, unpredictable romances, and devastating tragedies, we formed deep-rooted friendships, founded on patience, talent, and passion!”

Simon Gilbert-Barnham, principal said: “I am so incredibly proud of everyone who took part in our production of Fame and made it such an incredible success. The show was amazing to watch, showcasing both our students’ remarkable talent and also their unwavering commitment and hard work in the pursuit of excellence.

“I know I speak for everyone when I say a huge thank you to Miss Gedge and Mrs Behm for directing the show, Mrs Roper-Cornwell for all her hard work behind the scenes and of course the live orchestra led by Mr Ward and Mrs Clayton. This performance has been truly inspiring for our future generations of performers, and we can’t wait to see the next show!”
