OAT academies win award for outstanding progress

Ormiston Chadwick Academy and Ormiston Rivers Academy have both won a national education award, for being amongst the best schools in the country, in terms of the progress its students make.

The secondary academies, located in Widnes and Burnham-on-Crouch, have been awarded a prestigious SSAT Educational Outcomes Award after coming in the top 10 per cent of non-selective schools nationally for progress last year.

The accolade acknowledged the academy’s commitment to excellent teaching and supporting each student to fulfil their potential. To determine the winners, the SSAT (the Schools, Students and Teachers network) collected data from the Department of Education and Ofsted, analysing it to identify the highest performing schools across a range of measures.

The academies will have the chance to celebrate their significant achievement at a ceremony next term where winners will be presented formally with their awards. The winning academies are part of Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), which has five primary academy, one all-through academy and thirty secondary academies across England.

Tuesday Humby, Principal of Ormiston Chadwick Academy and Regional Director of Ormiston Academies Trust, said:

"We are very pleased to have won this fantastic award. I am incredibly proud of all our brilliant students and staff who work so hard to achieve such fantastic results. “The awards ceremony next term will be a great chance to celebrate this achievement and we are now very much looking forward to another year of excellent results and exceptional progress."
