Ormiston Denes Academy are ‘making it happen’
Posted: 18 Apr 2017
'Make it Happen’ is a two year programme of inspirational industry speakers from all walks of life who will share valuable insights with Year 10 and 11 students at Ormiston Denes Academy.
With these talks, the aim is to prepare senior students for the choices they face to empower them to shape their futures, and give them the confidence to seize opportunities for themselves.
The industry speakers, all leaders in their field, will talk to students over a two-year period about their own studies, their passions, their career path, the choices they made and the challenges they faced.
The academy believes these insights will influence, inspire and guide the choices their students make as they leave Ormiston Denes Academy to fulfill their ambitions in the wider world. As well as exposing the students to a wide range of different vocations, through engaging and motivating speakers who will share invaluable advice with them, which will help them understand how they can apply their academic skills to the working world.
Gwayne Webb, Regional Director Ormiston Academies East and Director of Training and Professional Development, Ormiston Academies Trust will kick-off the programme of talks this Spring. Gwayne is a specialist in English language and literature, drama and psychology, and has 25 years’ teaching and leadership experience. He has been part of the academies’ programme since its inception and his skill-set includes initial teacher training, change management, performance management, senior leadership training and self-evaluation.
