Ormiston Denes Academy raises money for charity in Santa run

Students and staff at Ormiston Denes Academy are celebrating this week, having organised a ‘Santa run’ to raise money for the East Anglian Children’s Hospices Charity (EACH).

EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

The idea was organised by Head of PE, Tom Woodrow, and involved students at the academy donning a Christmas hat and participating in a cross-country run.

In total, students and staff managed to raise a fantastic £410.00 for the charity, and the academy hopes to make the event an annual Christmas tradition.

Tom Woodrow, Head of PE at Ormiston Denes Academy, said:

"I have brought the idea of a Santa run over from my previous school, and what a success it has been!

"Every student at the academy got involved in the event and we have raised a lot of money for a really good cause."

Stuart Aldous, Assistant Principal, said:

"This is the first time we have supported East Anglian Children’s Hospice with a Santa Run, but it has proven to be a huge success, creating a real buzz, with every pupil having the opportunity to be physically active whilst supporting a good local cause at Christmas."
