The academy, hosted the event the training day, which was open to 16 delegates from primary and secondary schools across the local region.

The members of staff who took part were trained on how to provide mental health support to pupils on a first aid basis to facilitate early intervention and recovery. The staff who participated in the training will now take on roles as Youth MHFA Champions in their schools.

The training day also acted as a platform to further promote positive mental health and wellbeing across the whole school environment.

The Youth MHFA in Schools programme was delivered by Community Interest Company MHFA England and is funded by the Department of Health.

Christine Woods, Principal at Ormiston Endeavour Academy said:

"We are delighted to be leading the way in mental health provision, with the Youth MHFA training day being hosted at Ormiston Endeavour Academy – one of the first schools in the country to do so. The safety of our students is, as always, paramount, and training such as this is crucial to ensuring that we can support our students in every way possible."
