Mr Fitzgibbon has worked at the academy for over three years – two of which were spent as Vice Principal, before becoming Head of School in September 2018.

During this time, Mr Fitzgibbon has been an integral member of the senior leadership team which saw the academy achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in March last year. The glowing report praised the leadership team’s strong sense of purpose and direction across the academy, which Mr Fitzgibbon will continue to build on.

Mr Fitzgibbon will be supported in his role by Ormiston Horizon Academy’s Regional Director, Tuesday Humby, alongside the leadership team, Board of Governors and OAT to maintain the academy’s high standards and to continue to drive improvement across the board.

Andy Fitzgibbon, Principal at Ormiston Horizon Academy, said:

"It has been a privilege to work at Ormiston Horizon Academy for the past three years and I am thrilled to begin my new role as Principal. My passion is teaching and learning, and I always enjoy working with students and staff to improve outcomes. I am delighted with the range of opportunities that we offer at our academy and I want to ensure that all pupils continue to receive the chance to build their skills and opportunities.

"I am extremely proud to be given the opportunity to lead this amazing academy. I am excited by the potential that I see on a daily basis and I am determined to take the Horizon family on the next phase of our journey."

Tuesday Humby, Regional Director for Ormiston Academies Trust, said:
