Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy

Thirty-eight students from Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy accompanied by avid fan and teacher Craig Milne, took part in the popular annual trip to Carlisle United to see them play their last match of the season at Brunton Park.

The trip was also an opportunity to donate food to the Carlisle Food Bank, where after the floods damage two years ago not everyone has been able to return to their homes and having to pay two mortgages. The food bank has been in much demand and become a real-life saver within the local community.

On the journey up through the Lake District students were provided with a running commentary on the amazing geographical and historical features of this beautiful part of the country, and even got to meet club legend, Hughie McIlmoyle, who played for Newcastle United and Norman Steele, one of the Directors of the Supporters’ Club and fan of Carlisle United for over 60 years.

Mr Milne, Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy said: “After we had received a tour of the stadium we were then shown to our seats. In a packed stand, our students were certainly the loudest! An excellent game was well fought out by both teams and I am delighted to say that Carlisle United were victorious, with a final score line of 2-1. The stewards and staff at Carlisle all commented on how well-mannered our students were and they really appreciated their kind donations for Carlisle’s Food Bank.”
