An exciting opportunity for a Marketing and Communications apprentice (executive) to join the Trust, to assist and support all marketing and communications activities, in line with the overall strategy.

Our marketing and communications strategy is to raise the profile of OAT and our network of academies among all its key audiences/stakeholders, whilst building and protecting the reputation of the Trust and 31 academies.

From our offices in Newhall Street Birmingham, the successful candidate will work with marketing communications and design professionals, academy principals'; and other head office departments - governance, school improvement, estates, IT and safeguarding.

To fulfil this role we require an enthusiastic, self-starter and confident individual, who wants to be successful and make a difference. Being creative and having a hands-on approach to problem solving and getting things done will be advantageous.

The Marketing and Communications Assistant will be involved in the following activities:

  • Academy support with planning, PR and campaigns
  • Event co-ordination of the Annual Conference and Annual Awards
  • Data analysis and media/social media monitoring reporting
  • Marketing collateral development/design, including prospectuses, newsletters, promotional flyers
  • Social media management
  • Content management of corporate website
  • News story generation
  • Media booking
  • Share Point and OATnet
  • Video production
  • Market research
  • Attend team meetings and other
  • Administration duties including: purchase order generation, obtaining print quotes, update contact database, image library tagging

The support person will report directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager but work closely with the senior graphic designer and designer.

Essential skills

  • High level of written and spoken English
  • Good numeracy and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships

Desired experience

  • Experience of communicating with a broad range of individuals at all different levels of authority
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office and social media platforms

Personal qualities

  • A strong interest an desire to work in marketing and communications
  • Ability to plan and research, working methodically and accurately
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also on own initiative
  • Willingness to work some weekends and evening, agreed in advance
  • Punctuality

Qualifications required

  • Educated to a minimum of A-Level standard or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs A*-C in any subject or equivalent
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent at Grade D or above)

South and City College Birmingham are the chosen College to support this Apprenticeship Scheme. We have an excellent record of supporting Apprenticeships in this area. You will be required to attend Digbeth Campus one day per week and will receive one to one support from your dedicated Assessor.
