Brownhills Ormiston Academy welcomes new principal

  29 April, 2022

Brownhills Ormiston Academy is set to welcome a new principal from September.

Mrs Lloyd joins the academy from Waverley School where, as co-principal, she played a central role in raising and maintaining a high standard of teaching and learning.

Mrs Lloyd is local to the West Midlands area and started her career in teaching at a school in Walsall, where she was a modern foreign languages (MFL) teacher. She subsequently became head of department and then assistant headteacher.

During her time at Waverley School, Mrs Lloyd oversaw the development of teaching and learning, was head of inclusion and trained as a special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCo).

As principal, she was committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, had access to an exceptional education and was fully supported in unlocking their full potential. She is looking forward to bringing that same determination and dedication to the students at Brownhills Ormiston Academy.

Mrs Lloyd had been motivated to enter a career in teaching by her own inspirational teachers whose encouragement led to her becoming the first member of her family to attend university, where she studied French and history.

In joining the academy, she is most looking forward to getting to know students and their families as well as working with the team of staff to continue to drive improvement and to ensure that every child at the academy excels and is fully prepared for their next step.

Mrs Lloyd is taking over from current principal Helen Keenan, whose dedication and expertise have put the academy in a fantastic position to continue to move forward with pace and purpose.

Ann Lloyd, incoming principal at Brownhills Ormiston Academy, said: “I am thrilled to be joining such a wonderful academy and to be leading them through the next exciting stage of their journey. I look forward to working closely with the students, staff, families and the wider Ormiston Trust to enhance the learning opportunities for every child and young person.”

Paul Hyde, regional executive principal at Ormiston Academies Trust, said: “We are delighted that Ann is joining Brownhills Ormiston Academy. She was an exemplary candidate with an incredible enthusiasm for supporting the students. Her passion and expertise shone throughout the recruitment process, and I am confident that she will create a caring and ambitious environment where every student can thrive.”
