On Thursday 17 March, OAT held its annual awards ceremony, recognising the exceptional contributions of staff and pupils across the Trust.

Now in its eighth year, the ceremony was a chance to pay homage to both winners and nominees, as well as to learn about some of the fantastic achievements and initiatives taking place.

Held at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London, representatives from across OAT’s 40 schools were present, with friends and family also there to offer support.

During the evening, there was an impressive display from students at Ormiston Rivers Academy, who performed a Grease medley, and two students Darcie (Year 10 from Broadland High Ormiston Academy) and Amber (Year 11 from Ormiston Victory Academy). There was also a chance for the audience to hear from OAT CEO Nick Hudson, alongside Tuesday Humby, national director of teaching and training who spoke about the importance of social action and presented the chairman’s awards.

The event was hosted by presenter and broadcaster Radzi Chinyanganya, who did an excellent job highlighting all of the exceptional achievements, as well as sharing an inspiring story about his own life’s journey.

There were an impressive number of entries this year, demonstrating the breadth of remarkable achievement across the Trust. These included stories of those who have overcome personal barriers, achieved outstanding academic attainment, and staff and teachers who have led the way for their pupils to secure successful futures.

Alongside academic accomplishments, OAT is proud of the way academies have continued to operate at the heart of local communities, and embed a charitable, thoughtful and giving approach into everything they do. Many of the award winners and nominees are testament to that ethos, and one of the main focuses of the night was the ways in which the OAT family continues to come together to support one another and those around them.

OAT’s award partners included EDU-Lettings, LMP Education, Zurich Municipal, Capita, Bellrock Property and Facilities Management Ltd, PLMR, Ginger Energy, and Barker/EO Consulting. Stone King and School Hire have also provided some additional support and sponsorship, as of course did the Ormiston Trust. Through those partners, the ceremony was made possible.

Nick Hudson, CEO at Ormiston Academies Trust said: “It was such a privilege to be back in one room together, and for such a special occasion. It was a chance to celebrate our award winners’ innovation, creativity, and inspiration, amongst many other things.

“Our mantra as a Trust is to achieve more together. In the last two years, that’s really taken on a new meaning, and it’s clear how much more can be done, and achieved, when we work as one.”
