The results reflect the Trust’s high-quality sixth form offer in both academic and vocational subjects, including:

  • Eight students securing Oxbridge places, as well as a number of others winning places at other leading universities to read medicine or veterinary science.
  • More than half of students (55%) in STEM A level subjects scoring A*-B.
  • 26% of applied grades at Distinction * or Distinction.
  • Students have won highly prized apprenticeships with the NHS, BAE and KPMG.

Individual academy and student success stories from the day include:

Six students will be going on to study at Oxbridge, with the highest number of its students also now due to start at Russell Group universities.

Cowes Enterprise College on the Isle of Wight celebrated another year of exceptional results, drawing praise from the Government with Schools Minister Lord Agnew describing them as “impressive”.

Almost a third of A-level entries were graded A*-A – doubling last year’s figure. 42% of entries achieved an A*-B and 12% of entries gained the top A* grade, with 9 students in the cohort receiving all A*-A grades.

One student from Cowes Enterprise College is going on to study maths at Oxford University, whilst Sam Jones is joining the BAE apprenticeship programme and Izzy Rothwell won a place on the well-respected NHS apprenticeship scheme.

Ormiston Bushfield Academy in Peterborough celebrated record-breaking results this year, with 72% of A-level entries achieving A*-C and 42% of entries gaining A*-B – surpassing last year’s figure. The school also excelled in vocational subjects, with an impressive 50% of vocational entries achieving the top grades Distinction or Distinction*.

Student, Callum Martin, achieved an impressive A*, A* A and will be reading Chemistry at Oxford University. He will be the first student to attend Oxford from Bushfield and is the fourth student in three years to secure a place at Oxbridge.

Nick Hudson, Chief Executive Officer, Ormiston Academies Trust said:

“I would like to congratulate the students and staff across all 14 of our schools collecting their A-level results today. The results really are a testament to the hard work and determination of our students, supported by their teachers, parents and wider school communities.

“We have seen some exceptional, and in some cases record-breaking results, as well as countless individual success stories and journeys of improvement. Our students have secured places at leading universities, won positions on coveted apprenticeships and are entering the world of work to pursue their dream careers.

“As a Trust, it is our absolute priority that every student has the opportunity to fulfil their potential and achieve the skills required to succeed. We look forward to continuing to work closely with our schools to build on these achievements, and we wish our Year 13 cohort the very best of luck in their next chapter.”

Praising Cowes Enterprise College’s, A-level results, Schools Minister Lord Agnew, said:

“Congratulations to all the pupils and staff at Cowes Enterprise College and the wider team at Ormiston Academies Trust, on such an impressive set of results.

“A-level results day marks the moment so many young people will make choices that can shape the rest of their lives, so whatever path they choose, every pupil at Cowes Enterprise College should do so full of confidence.”
