Students at Ormiston Chadwick Academy have today received their GCSE results, enabling them to embark on the next chapter of their education.

Staff and students joined together to celebrate the many achievements at the end of what has been an unprecedented end to the academic year for all schools across the country, in light of Covid-19 and the cancellation of exams this summer.

Whilst BTEC grades are still to be awarded, amongst some of the individual successes this year were:

  • Head girl Freya Thornton, the school’s highest achiever, with an incredible nine grade 9s. She now has a bright future ahead of her, pursuing her dream career in medicine.
  • Emily Ashcroft achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7, amongst other grades.
  • Kieran O’Dea achieved one grade 9, five grade 8s, two grade 7s, amongst other grades.
  • Ryan Wheeler achieved one grade 9, three grade 8s, and three grade 7s, amongst other grades.

The whole community at Ormiston Chadwick Academy has pulled together during the past few months, showing resilience and positivity during challenging times. Both staff and students alike are looking forward to getting back to face-to-face teaching in September, as staff have been working hard to get the school ready for lessons.

Jennifer Lowry-Johnson, Principal at Ormiston Chadwick Academy, said:

“We’re very pleased for our Year 11s who have been able to come into school today and collect their results, which they thoroughly deserve. There have been challenges along the way, but after five years of hard work they really deserve the chance to celebrate and I hope they are all very proud of themselves. I know there are bright things in store for all of them and everyone here at Ormiston Chadwick Academy will be cheering them on as they get ready to take their next steps.”
