Ormiston Maritime students collect their GCSE results

Students at Ormiston Maritime Academy in Grimsby have today received their GCSE results, enabling them to embark on the next chapter of their education.

Staff and students joined together to celebrate the many achievements at the end of what has been an unprecedented end to the academic year for all schools across the country, in light of Covid-19 and the cancellation of exams this summer.

Whilst BTEC grades are still to be awarded, amongst some of the individual successes this year were:

Ormiston Maritime students
  • Abbie Hall was the highest achiever in the year group, achieving an impressive 7 Grade 9s across all Ebacc subjects. Abbie is now going on to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and French at Franklin Sixth Form College.
  • Rachel Usher achieved the highest progress score, on average scoring above two grades in all subjects taken, marking her improvement throughout the 5 years at the school.
  • Alicia Gibson and Ashleigh Waller achieved a high progress score achieving well above their target, reflective of their progress over the five years, achieving 4 grade 7s, and 2 grade 8s.
  • Tyler Gower is going on to study Public Service and Criminology at Franklin Sixth Form College, having secured a Grade 6 in Maths and Grade 5s in English and Science.
  • Sheerie Ragsdale achieved 6 Grade 6s across the Ebacc.
  • Amelia Carlton who overcame personal adversity and successfully and performed above expectations, achieving a combination of grade 4s and 5s in all her subjects.
