Ormiston South Parade Academy (OSPA) in Grimsby is celebrating, following the release of new primary school league tables which have once again highlighted the continued success of the academy.

Overall, an impressive 88% of pupils achieved at least the expected standard in reading, writing and maths – significantly above the national and regional average of 65% and representing a four-percentage point increase on the academy’s 2018 results.

These strong results have led the academy to be ranked in the top 5% of schools in the country for attainment and in the top three schools in North East Lincolnshire for its results.

In reading, an outstanding 93% of pupils achieved the expected standard, with 92% doing so in maths and 90% in writing. The progress pupils made in each individual subject was similarly strong, achieving a progress score of 5.3 in reading and 3.2 in maths – scores deemed by the Government as “well above the national average” and reflective of the value OSPA adds to its pupils.

Following in the positive trends of previous years, disadvantaged pupils (those from low income backgrounds who are eligible for free school meals) at the academy also performed particularly highly in the SATs results, with 78% achieving at least the expected standard in reading, writing and maths.

Today’s results reflect the continued success of the academy, under the leadership of then Executive Principal Jane Nolan – who became Director of Primary and SEND for OAT in September – and incumbent Principal Kate Robinson.

Jane Nolan, Director of Primary and SEND for Ormiston Academies Trust, said:

“We are truly delighted to have achieved another excellent set of results this year at OSPA. They are testament to the hard work and commitment of our staff, pupils and their supportive families, and we are extremely proud of these achievements.

“At OSPA, we are committed to ensuring every child is given the support and opportunities they need to thrive and make the best possible progress, so we are thrilled that we have been able to achieve this for the children we’re so proud to serve.”

Kate Robinson, Principal of OSPA, said:

“Today’s results reflect the exceptional work of the pupils and staff here at OSPA. We always strive to achieve excellence and we are working hard to build on this set of results in order to support OSPA on its continuing upward trajectory. It is a very proud and exciting day for us all.”

Nick Hudson, Chief Executive Officer of Ormiston Academies Trust, said:

“Ormiston South Parade Academy continues to be a high-performing and hugely ambitious academy – going above and beyond to ensure its pupils achieve exceptional results, regardless or starting point background.

“Today’s league table results, and the schools high ranking on both a regional and national scale, have once again confirmed the success of OSPA’s approach and are hugely deserved.”
