Ormiston SWB celebrates student achievements

  20 August, 2020

Students at Ormiston SWB Academy have today received their GCSE results, enabling them to embark on the next chapter of their education.

Staff and students joined together to celebrate the many achievements at the end of what has been an unprecedented end to the academic year for all schools across the country, in light of Covid-19 and the cancellation of exams this summer.

Whilst BTEC grades are still to be awarded, amongst some of the individual successes this year were:

  • Phoebe Roberts secured Grade 9s in English Literature and Language, two Grade 8s, amongst other grades.
  • Orgito Markja celebrates two Grade 9s, amongst other top grades.
  • Gagandeep Kaur and George Fabian who both celebrate three Grade 9s each
  • Elliot Pritchard celebrates 7 Grade 7–9 GCSEs.
  • Ashleigh Harris celebrates 8 GCSEs at Grades 8 and above including, one Grade 9.
  • A notable mention should go to those students who have made excellent progress across their five years at the school, including Josh Bednall, Joebe Scarrett, Faye Hill, Katie Langley, Lewis Gazey, Justin Sinclair and Reece Phelps–Haynes.

During the unprecedented period of the last few months, Ormiston SWB Academy has played its part in supporting the local community with the donation of PPE to The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, providing food hampers and work packs, supporting key worker and vulnerable students as well as providing online lessons for all.

Rod Hughes, Principal at Ormiston SWB, said:

“I am incredibly proud of this exceptional group of young people. Their preparation and dedication towards their exams quickly turned into a resilience and positivity throughout lockdown.

“We cannot express how proud we are of our students receiving results this year – their achievements are hugely deserved and the spirit and togetherness they have shown throughout this process has made them a credit to themselves, their families, and our school. All the staff at Ormiston SWB wish you the very best in the future.”
