OSCA retains status as a National Citizen Service Champion School

  14 October, 2020

Year 11 students at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy (OSCA) in Oldbury took part in the NCS Trust Award Scheme over 2019 to 2020. The academy has recently received a certificate of congratulations on retaining its Champion School Status, signed by the RT HON Boris Johnson Prime Minister.

The scheme is designed to help students develop their skills through adventurous activities, teambuilding, leadership exercises and exploring their local community through a series of challenges. It brings young people together from all different backgrounds and helps them to develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility.

This is open to all schools and colleges in the Dudley and Sandwell area on a first come first served basis, for their Year 11 and sixth form students. The programme will continue at OSCA as it supports the wide range of opportunities the academy offers to its students to help them develop and achieve their goals in life.

Faye Cutler, Principal at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy said:

“We are really pleased to work with the NCS, and so glad so many of our students have participated and benefitted from the opportunities provided. It has supported the development of their confidence and self-esteem, as well as the development of key life skills vital to their future success.”
