  20 October, 2023

Staff at City of Norwich School (CNS) are celebrating today after scooping a prestigious award at the EDP’s inaugural Norfolk Education Awards, held last night.

The school has been awarded ‘Secondary School of the Year’, fighting off tough competition from other nominees in the region. The award, sponsored by City College Norwich, recognises the school’s inclusivity, commitment to learning and students’ emotional, physical and social development.

The school’s sixth form was also a finalist in the ‘Higher/Further Education Provider of the Year’ category and one of its sixth form students, Mabel Lea, had been selected as a finalist for the category of Student of the Year, making CNS the school with the highest number of nominations for awards.

Schools from across the region came together to celebrate the talent and successes within the county’s education sector, from primary school through to higher education, at the awards ceremony held this month in Norwich.

Jo Philpott, headteacher said “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award.  We are a large, diverse school, and a very proud school, and our staff work phenomenally hard to ensure that we deliver our motto of ‘excellence in all’ every single day.

“This award is testament to this commitment and dedication, and every single member of the CNS community can take credit in being part of this recognition.”
