Helping Hands from Flegg

  5 May, 2020

Schools still remain closed, apart from for those children whose parents/carers are key workers. At Flegg High Ormiston Academy those pupils have been showing their solidarity in a unique display. There are now 898 paper hands which are displayed in classroom windows, to represent each and every one of the Flegg family.

Working on the project with Mrs Spooner, the group chose hands as their display to demonstrate how pupils, staff and families have been reaching out to support one another at this difficult time.

Principal, Kate Williams, has been speaking to parents and hearing how pupils are missing their school life and being with their peers. By creating this heartfelt display for all the community to see, students will be reminded on their daily walks, that they are all in it together, one big family.

Ms Williams said: “I’m so proud of the resilience and kindness our pupils have shown throughout this pandemic, and it’s helping us all get through this.”

And at this time, we all need a helping hand!
