New National Director of Finance Announced

Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) has today announced that Jo Dawson will be joining as its new National Director of Finance.

Jo will take over from current Finance Director Paul Nye, as he retires at the end of the academic year, having worked with the Trust since 2010. Paul has enjoyed a long career in finance and throughout his successful time with OAT, Paul has also served on the governing bodies of a number of its schools, including as the Chair of Governors.

Jo, who will take up the post in August 2019, brings a wealth of experience and insight to the role, having held numerous senior positions in finance throughout her career. Jo trained as a chartered accountant with PwC in the mid-1990s and has worked commercially for large multi-national companies including Cadbury’s, British American Tobacco and Jaguar Land Rover. She has worked both internationally and domestically, leading transformation projects to deliver effective organisational change.

She also has a passion for education and has been a Governor and Chair of Governors at a school in Birmingham for the past six years. Jo will look to build on her education background in the new role, as she maintains the Trust’s focus on supporting its schools to provide a high-quality educational opportunities to all its pupils.

In her new role, Jo will oversee OAT’s head office Finance teams, which support the Trust’s 38 schools with their finances. Jo will now be working closely alongside Chief Executive Officer, Nick Hudson, and the Trust’s executive team to ensure a smooth transition into her role as they work together to maintain the Trust’s high standards.

Paul Nye, outgoing National Director of Finance at Ormiston Academies Trust, said: “It has been an absolute privilege and an honour to work with Ormiston Academies Trust for the past nine years. My role has allowed me to support and contribute to the high standards of education provided to all schools across the Trust and I have enjoyed working closely with the head office, as well as on a school level particularly through my role as a Governor.

“I know I am leaving the role in good hands with Jo and I look forward to seeing what lies in store for the Trust as it continues to go from strength to strength.”
