Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy is set to welcome Michael Riley as the new principal from April.
Mr Riley has worked at the academy for over 20 years, initially joining as an English teacher in 2002. In recent years, he has played an integral and central role on the academy’s senior leadership team.
During his time at the academy, Mr Riley has been committed to working alongside the wider community, placing the best interest of all students at the heart of his approach and to instil every young person with strong aspirations. Mr Riley will continue to champion this ethos as he steps into his new role.
In taking on the position of principal, Mr Riley is most looking forward to the opportunity to lead a thriving academy into the next phase of its development and ensure they are continuing to provide students with the very best educational opportunities.
Mr Riley is taking over from the current principal Stuart Turnbull, whose support over his time in post has enabled the academy to continue to grow and succeed.
With the support of all staff, parents and the wider community, Mr Riley will ensure the academy continues to move forward with pace and purpose.
Michael Riley, incoming principal said: “I am thrilled to be leading such a wonderful academy through the next exciting stage of their journey.
“My core commitment as principal will be making academic success and aspiration an expectation at the academy by ensuring every student learns there is no limit on what they can achieve, and I look forward to working closely with the staff and students to reach this goal.”
Natasha Rancins, education director for the north and west Regions at Ormiston Academies Trust, said: “We are delighted that Michael will be leading Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy and are confident that he will do a fantastic job.
