Ormiston Six Villages Academy provides free Christmas lunch for all students

  20 December, 2022

All students at Ormiston Six Villages Academy were treated to a free Christmas dinner to celebrate the end of term and the festive period.

The academy’s senior leadership team decided to provide the dinner for all the students as a way to thank them for their hard work over the past year and to ensure they could celebrate the holiday season together as a community.

Each year group was allocated a different day for the students and their tutors to be able to enjoy a traditional turkey Christmas feast with a range of freshly made sides including roasted vegetables and a choice of fruit salad or chocolate log for dessert.

During the meal, the academy also played festive music and even hosted a Christmas quiz which was a particular hit with the students. The students and staff all thoroughly enjoyed coming together to eat and celebrate the festive season as a family. Due to the success of the Christmas meal, the academy is hoping to make this a permanent tradition for the students to enjoy each year.

George, a Year 8 student said: “I love this new tradition, it’s a nice way to meet other people as well as enjoy the lovely Christmas dinner. Thank you to the staff and student leaders for arranging this event.”

Paul Slaughter, principal said: “We wanted to treat our students to a lovely end of year celebration to say thank you to them for all their hard work. It was also important to us to offer this meal for free, as part of our commitment to ensuring all of our students are able to access the same opportunities.”
