Ormiston Sudbury Academy announces new principal

  29 March, 2023

Ormiston Sudbury Academy has announced that Sally Morris will be taking on the role of principal from September.

Mrs Morris brings with her a wealth of experience, having worked as a secondary school headteacher since 2015. Prior to that, she worked as a senior leader in a number of schools, gaining expertise in pastoral care, teaching and learning, curriculum, and student outcomes.

At each school she has worked in, Mrs Morris’ ambition has been to ensure that every student leaves with the best set of grades and skills they can, in order to have the widest possible range of choices in their life and education beyond school. This outlook closely matches the priorities of Ormiston Sudbury Academy and is an ethos Mrs Morris will continue to champion as she steps into the role of principal.

Her appointment follows the announcement of Caroline Wilson’s retirement. Caroline has been in post as principal at the academy for over a decade, and during her tenure, the academy has continued to flourish, becoming a lead school for the Royal Shakespeare Company and being established as a teacher training hub for The OAKS Suffolk, amongst many other successes.

Under Mrs Morris’ leadership, the academy will continue to build on the strong foundations in place, with the support of students, staff, families, OAT and the wider community, helping to ensure it goes from strength to strength.

Sally Morris, incoming principal said: “I am delighted to have been given the privilege to be the next principal of Ormiston Sudbury Academy. This is a school with a huge heart and many varied strengths. I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, students and parents who form the academy community and to beginning to work with them all.”

Richard Dolding, education director (east) said: “We are really pleased that, following a thorough and robust recruitment process, Mrs Morris has been selected to take on the role of principal at Ormiston Sudbury Academy. Mrs Morris’ expansive knowledge and leadership expertise, as well as her huge passion and drive, make her ideally suited for the position. I look forward to working closely with Mrs Morris to ensure we are providing the very best education possible for our students.”
