MathOlympics is a collection of seasonal, mathematical challenges open to pupils from Years 5 to 9 across OAT. Pupils will need to use mathematical skills, logical reasoning and think creatively to complete three festive challenges.
There will be three sets of MathOlympics challenges throughout the year; at Christmas 2023, spring 2024, and in the summer term 2024. Each will give pupils an opportunity to tackle seasonal mathematical puzzles to win prizes. Pupils should enter each challenge as individuals, and can tackle as many of the puzzles as they wish. Prizes will be awarded for each task separately.
Entries will be open between the following dates:
For the dates for the team challenges, please see below.
The team challenges will begin in the spring term and the deadline for submissions is Monday 29 February. The winning team from each region will go through to the grand final (in person) in July. Teams must contain a maximum of five pupils.
There will be a separate final for primary schools.
Each of the seasonal challenges will have three winners, each receiving a £20 Amazon voucher and MathOlympics certificate.
Winners of the team challenges will receive funding to go towards a maths enrichment activity for their academy, winners medals, certificates and highly covetable MathOlympics pin badges. Second place teams will receive medals, certificates and pin badges. Other finalists will receive certificates and pin badges.
Entries submitted for the summer challenges by the deadline of Monday 3 July will be judged by the OAT maths lead practitioners. Each challenge will be judged separately. The more challenges you enter, the more chances you have to win a prize!
